NEWNAN, Ga. -- A 29-year-old airman from Newnan has died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Africa.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but the AP also reported the crash did not appear to have resulted from enemy fire. 

Whitlock grew up in Newnan, Georgia, where his father works in local government and his mother is employed by their family's church.  His brother has also been deployed to the Middle East.

ATLANTA -- Single game tickets for the Atlanta Braves aren't scheduled to go on sale until March 5, but fans who preregister online can get a head start.

ATLANTA -- Megabus is adding two new routes to Atlanta.

The discount bus carrier will begin daily service from Atlanta to Athens on Feb. 29.

Daily service from Atlanta to New Orleans begins April 2.

Megabus fares begin at $1.

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -- One person was killed after a train crashed into a car in Bartow County Wednesday morning.

It happened on Cass White Road near Highway 411.

NORCROSS, Ga. --  An hours long standoff at a Norcross apartment complex has ended peacefully.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith said it began shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday, when police were called about a domestic disturbance at the Grove at Stonebrook apartments on Beaver Ruin

A man identified as 43-year-old Kelvin Barefield had holed himself up in a second-floor unit and was throwing items from his porch. Smith said several shots were fired at responding officers before the SWAT team was called out. No one was hurt.

Barefield surrendered his gun at about 8:30 a.m. He was taken into custody about half an hour later. Police determined that he was alone in the apartment during the standoff.

Barefield faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, reckless conduct and possession of a firearm. He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

LITHONIA, Ga. -- Like a flashback to Black Friday, shoppers barrelled through the doors at Stonecrest Mall early Friday morning to be among the first to buy the new Nike Air Michael Jordan 11 Concords.

MABLETON, Ga. -- Slick roads appear to have played a role in at least one of two deadly crashes overnight in Mableton.

The first happened at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday near Pebblebrook High School.

The Mableton teen hit a utility pole near Boggs Road and was ejected from the car. He wasn't wearing a seat belt and was later pronounced dead at Grady Hospital.

The second crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. at Oglesby Road and Five Oaks Place. Officer Bowman said 27-year-old David W. Jones of Powder Springs ran his 2001 Ford F-150 off the road into several trees. He wasn't wearing a seat belt either and died on the scene. Alcohol is being considered as a factor in the accident.

FAIRBURN, Ga. -- A 21-year-old Schizophrenic man who had been missing all night was found safe just a couple miles from his home.

Trinton Devon Mooring disappeared at 8 p.m. Sunday from his home on Fairhaven Trail, off Plantation Road in Fairburn.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- An autopsy is expected to confirm whether a 47-year-old Hall County man died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

A spokesman with the sheriff's office said the man was found dead Sunday in a house on Caprice Drive near Flowery Branch.

Investigators said there
...more had been several generators running in the home, but that the units had run out of fuel by the time officers arrived.

Prelimary reports suggested the man was poisoned by carbon monoxide.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- It turns out a 53-year-old Marietta woman who was killed by a Cobb County Police officer over the weekend was facing federal charges for threatening two New York lawmakers.

...more door of an apartment on Penny Lane S.E. Sunday morning. The unnamed officer fired back at Barnette, and she died on the scene. The officer was later treated for injuries to his arm from the attack and put on administrative leave pending an investigation.

New details about the shooting and Barnette's past were released Monday from the office of a state senator from New York.

Brittany Oat, a spokeswoman for Sen. Greg Ball (R, C-Patterson), said Barnette was armed with a handgun and a knife during Sunday's attack. Oat said Barnette was the same woman who mailed Ball's office a hoax about weapons of mass destruction last month.

ATLANTA -- Some old holiday favorites will be revived this weekend on 11Alive's new sister station, Antenna TV.

The network will launch at 4 a.m. Saturday on Digital TV channel 36.3, Comcast channel 245 and Charter channel 83.
