DORAVILLE, Ga. (WXIA) -- Doraville police have three people in custody after a home invasion led to a man's death Tuesday.  Chief John King said four intruders tried to tie up four renters in their house on Doral Drive at around 5 a.m.  They said they do not know why the house was targeted.

The intruders broke in through a window, and before they could tie up the fourth person living there, they were shot by one of the renters.  The four intruders got away, and went to Norcross to change clothes and take the injured man to the hospital.  He died there, and the other three were arrested.  No one involved has been indentified by police. 

Officer Gene Calloway said police are still processing evidence from four different crime scenes Tuesday evening.  They had to go through the homes of the four victims and the four intruders, as well as the cars they used.  Once that is finished, they will begin to question the three suspects in custody.

DEKALB- (WXIA) A Greyhound bus coming to Atlanta from Richmond early Thursday was greeted by an intoxicated off-duty police officer slamming into it.  No passengers were hurt, but the Atlanta police officer was taken to the hospital.

...more Niezurawski had been driving the wrong way on I-85 for more than 7 miles when he hit the bus.  It happened around five in the morning near Pleasantdale Road in DeKalb County.  They charged the motorcycle officer with driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a highway. 

Niezurawski is on paid leave from the APD while the department conducts their own investigation.  They declined to comment on the situation beyond confirming facts.  Since he joined the Atlanta Police Department in 2004, Niezurawksi has only one complaint on his record.   It was for his failure to appear in court in September of 2008.

DORAVILLE, Ga. -- The Atlanta Silverbacks have signed 24-year-old Borfor Carr as the newest member of the team, the club announced Friday.
Carr offiically joins the Silverbacks after an impressive extended trial during preseason training camp.

The 5-foot-9-inch midfielder, who scored a goal during the Silverbacks' preseason win over Clayton State University, left his native Liberia at age three and settled on the Ivory Coast with his family. He moved to Lawrenceville at age 14 and became a soccer star at Central Gwinnett High School.

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks have signed goalkeeper Joe Nasco for the 2012 soccer season.
The 6-foot-3-inch Nasco has played for the Panama City Pirates and trained with the Chicago Fire, Puerto Rico Islanders and Real Maryland Monarchs.

A former All-American at Andrew College and an all-conference player at Birmingham Southern, Nasco was injured several times during his college career. While he recovered, he worked as a police officer for the Gordon County Sheriff's Department.
Nasco caught the eye of a Silverbacks scout during an open combine in January. He began training with the team right away and was officially signed on Tuesday.

Jay Williams, executive director of the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, is to meet Wednesday afternoon with Doraville and DeKalb County leaders to discuss the plans.

DeKalb County spokesman Burke Brennan says the county is open to exploring all possibilities for the site, which is still owned by GM.

Doraville Mayor Donna Pittman says she hopes it can be redeveloped to bring back jobs and add vitality to the area. About 4,000 jobs were lost when the plant closed in 2008.

Pittman says a mixed-use development involving Doraville's MARTA station is among the possibilities being explored.

G.S.U. student John Hernandez regularly parks at the Doraville MARTA station to catch the train to school. Recently, he parked in an area (next to some other vehicles) that wasn't marked as a parking zone. When he returned from school, he was upset to find a ticket on his windshield. He noticed the...more other vehicles weren't cited and there weren't any 'no parking' signs in sight. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A DeKalb County family is outraged that someone shot their black Labrador Retriever with a hunting arrow over the weekend.

Kirby Vanderyt says she found her two-year-old dog Siddie with an arrow lodged in her side Saturday afternoon.

Vanderyt rushed her
...more dog to an 24-hour veterinary clinic.  But she ultimately had to drive her beloved pet to The University of Georgia's Veterinary Hospital for emergency surgery.

The surgeon successfully removed the arrow and says it's fortunate it didn't hit any major organs.

But now that her dog's recovering, Vanderyt says she wants to find the person responsible for shooting her in the first place.

She's contacted DeKalb County Police and Animal Control, who are both investigating the case.

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks will play six preseason games this year, the soccer club announced Friday.
The preseason schedule will feature two games against professional teams and four against college teams.

Midfielder Tony McManus and defender Tyler Ruthven are the newest team members, the soccer club announced Monday.

McManus, 31, played for the Silverbacks from 2005 to 2008, and the Memphis, Tenn. native is excited to rejoin the team.
"I've known Tony for a long time, and I'm very excited about his return to Atlanta," said Silverbacks director of soccer Rodrigo Rios. "He's going to be a major contributor to our team, both on and off the field."
Since leaving Atlanta, McManus has played for the Portland (Ore.) Timbers, Tampa Bay Rowdies and Carolina RailHawks.
Ruthven, who grew up in Alpharetta, played for the Silverbacks in 2011, appearing in 27 of the team's 28 games, and tallying one goal and two assists.
