COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- It's an Atlanta Mother's Day tradition that raises money for an important cause -- and it's back in town this weekend.

The South Fulton Rodeo will present its Bulls, Barrels and Bikes event in College Park on Saturday.

ATLANTA -- Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport say an issue involving an unattended bag found on Concourse E has been resolved.

Airport officials discovered the bag shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Some international flights were delayed as officials worked to find the bag's owner and determine that its contents were not dangerous.

ATLANTA -- Federal authorities have arrested the third Atlanta airport worker suspected of plotting to smuggle a bag filled with heroin and methamphetamine into the U.S.

Court records say that Luis Marroquin was arrested early Tuesday at a house in Coral Springs, Fla. Prosecutors also
...more charged his girlfriend, Stephanie Baxter, with helping him try to escape the country and flee to Guatemala.

Two other Delta Air Lines workers, Carlos Springer and Kelvin Rondon, were arrested last week and charged with conspiring to smuggle more than $500,000 worth of drugs into the country on a January Delta flight from Mexico City.

Springer pleaded not guilty at a hearing this week. His bond was set at $150,000. Attorneys for the other defendants could not immediately be identified.

ATLANTA -- Federal authorities say three airport workers are accused of trying to bring heroin and methamphetamine into the U.S. on a commercial jet.

Federal authorities say the case involves Delta Flight 364, which arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from Mexico City on Jan. 13.

Carlos R. Springer, 41, was arrested Tuesday, while 27-year-old Kelvin Rondon of Atlanta was arrested Wednesday. The third suspect, 35-year-old Luis Marroquin, is still on the run.

All three suspects face charges of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin, and attempting to import methamphetamine and heroin into the U.S.

White and three other people are charged in connection with a home invasion in College Park on December 4, 2012. The four forced their way into the home of White's ex-girlfriend on Kingswood Circle and were armed with handguns.

White's former girlfriend, Kenyatta Warren, told 11Alive News that they were demanding money. One of them, who she knew as a cousin of White's, pointed a gun at her while she was holding her daughter. "And they just placed a gun in my stomach in front of my daughter and counted down from five, and I thought I was going to die," she said.

ATLANTA -- Delta Air Lines subsidiary Monroe Energy LLC will buy an oil refinery in Pennsylvania from Phillips 66 for $150 million in an attempt to save money on rising fuel costs.

Atlanta-based Delta will spend another $100 million to convert the existing refinery infrastructure to
...more maximize jet fuel production. Monroe got a $30 million job creation and infrastructure improvement incentive package from Pennsylvania, Delta noted. The deal should close in the first half of 2012.

The acquisition includes the Trainer refinery complex south of Philadelphia, which produces more than 185,000 barrels a day, plus pipelines and transportation assets that reach Delta's operations throughout the Northeast, where it hubs at LaGuardia and JFK.

Monroe will come to strategic sourcing and marketing agreements with BP and Phillips 66, Delta said.

ATLANTA -- Passengers inside major airports have to pass through the security gauntlet to get to the airside concourses or concessions.  For many new employees, the security is apparently not as stringent.

Those new employees are getting their security badges before the background
...more checks are being completed.

The TSA says it was caused by a major backlog from a computer switchover. As a result, several airports -- including Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson -- were given a waiver to issue the badges in advance of the checks being completed.

During the screening process, new employees are required to verify their identity. Then, they are matched to a terrorist watch list. If they're on the list, then they are tossed out.

After that is a verification of a prospective employee's criminal record. If there has been a conviction for any one of 28 crimes, the candidate is out.

Finally, there is a security threat assessment conducted by the TSA.

NEW YORK -- The problem of birds living near some of the nation's busiest airports is getting more attention after bird strikes caused two emergency landings within a week, including one that involved an Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines jet.

...more Wednesday proposed making it easier to round up geese from a federal refuge near Kennedy Airport and kill them, an idea that's being blasted by wildlife advocates.

Gillibrand's bill would allow the U.S. Department of Agriculture to remove Canada geese from the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge during June and July when they are molting and can't fly, according to the Associated Press.

"We cannot and should not wait another day to act while public safety is at risk," Gillibrand said in a statement.

But the idea of a goose roundup at a wildlife refuge that is part of the National Park Service is meeting strong opposition.

ATLANTA -- Delta Air Lines Inc. will install seat belts on its airport vehicles after a baggage handler died last year after being ejected from a vehicle.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration also will address the hazard in the airline industry, recently writing to other
...more airlines that they must comply with seat belt requirements.

According to the agreement with the federal agency, Delta will put seat belts in 6,000 baggage handling vehicles. It also will pay an $8,500 penalty.

The agreement calls for Delta to train workers in the safe use of the vehicles, and to order future vehicles with seatbelts installed. Its current vehicles will have seatbelts installed within the next year when they come in for regular maintenance.
