ATLANTA -- The new "flex" lane on southbound Georgia 400 debuted this week to mixed reviews. GDOT say it's a little early to judge the success of the new flex lane.
The emergency lanes were opened going southbound only from Holcomb Bridge Road to the North Springs MARTA station.
They opened up to rush hour drivers starting on Monday. They're designed to ease congestion on the highway and the roads feeding into it.
So far the reaction from drivers has been mixed with, equal parts, anger and satisfaction. The DOT said the congestion around the lanes will start to ease up as drivers learn how to use them. But if these lanes are eventually deemed a success, could they be implemented on other roads?
